Using a limited colour palette is one of my favourite ways to overcome artblock. Here, I limited myself to using only five distinct colours and a high-contrast palette. By challenging myself in this way, I can create works that are less detail-oriented, allowing me to focus more on form and the overall feeling of the piece. The end results have a completely different feel to them too, as they are more illustrative rather than descriptive, and are not bound to the chains of realism in many ways.

The process of working with limitations ironically makes it so that it feels much more unbinding, as I throw everything I know to be “right” out the window.
